Another Location for the Romanian-Hungarian Joint Battalion from Arad

Minister of National Defence, Teodor Atanasiu obtained the agreement of his Hungarian counterpart Ferenc Juhasz for the move of the Romanian-Hungarian Peacekeeping Joint Battalion from Arad Fortress into another location.

Atanasiu informed Juhasz that now the Battalion is located inside one of the few fortresses of the VAUBAN type still preserved in Europe, a fortress that could be integrated within the cultural and tourist circuit.


The Joint Peacekeeping Battalion was established as a result of the signatures of the two ministers of Defence on March 20, 1998 in Budapest, in an agreement between the Government of Romania and the Government of Hungary.

OPENNING WINDOWS the first exercise of the Joint Battalion, occurred November 14-20, 1999 in Arad. After that, in Romania and Hungary exercises and tactical applications of command and with troops have been organized. The Romanian-Hungarian Joint Peacekeeping Battalion represents a success in bilateral military Romanian-Hungarian cooperation.
