Jackson appreciates Romania's strategic importance in the area

During today's meeting between Defence Minister Teodor Atanasiu and the Head of the U.S. Committee for NATO, Bruce Jackson, Romania's commitment to accomplish its missions in the theatres of operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and the Balkans was highlighted.

Bruce Jackson appreciated the steps taken to reform the military institution that highly contributed to Romania's integration into NATO and emphasized the part our country played in stabilizing the region, in the context of the Black Sea's increased strategic significance.

Minister Atanasiu thanked Mr. Jackson for the support to Romania's integration efforts and stated that he is entirely in favour of the development of the Strategic Partnership with the U.S.A.

The Romanian Ambassador to the U.S.A., Sorin Ducaru, was also present at the meeting at the MoD headquarters.
