Minister Atanasiu in official visit to Sofia

During the visit in Bulgaria between March 22 and 23, minister of National Defence, Teodor Atanasiu will talk with his Bulgarian counterpart Nikolai Svinarov on the role NATO and the European Union have in ensuring the regional and continental security and stability and on the cooperation between the two countries in establishing an integrated approach of the issues concerning the Southeastern Europe and Black Sea area.

The two ministers will also analyze the process of reform of the Romanian and Bulgarian armed forces and the bilateral military relationship. Another issue to be approached will be the participation of the Romanian and Bulgarian soldiers in operations in the Balkans, Iraq and Afghanistan.

The program of the visit also consists of meetings with Simeon Saxa-Coburg Gotha, Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria; Solomon Passi, Minister of Foreign Affairs and the President of the Commission of Foreign Policy, Security and Defence of the Parliament. The Romanian delegation will also visit the air base Graf Ignatievo in Plovdiv.
