Major Daniel Petrescu, the 2nd Infantry Battalion Calugareni participated in the ceremony of setting the brick at the foundation of the first barrack for the new units of the 72nd Brigade of the Iraqi armed forces in Al Gharraf (40 km north of An Nassiriya). Aziz Kadum Alwan Al Ogheli, the Dhi Qar governor, Brigade General Giovanni Battista Borrini, the Italian Joint Task Force commander and Colonel Roger Gerber, the US Engineering Corps commander participated in this ceremony.

According to the information Captain Carol Florea, the PR officer transmitted, the Romanian soldiers will participate in preparing and training between April 23 and July 7, 05 each company of the Brigade, for two weeks.

At regional level there will be formed structures made of sub-units of the Iraqi armed forces and local police to be set at the governors disposal for the missions of stabilization and security in the area.
