For the first time: an entirely Romanian humanitarian project finished in Iraq

The 2nd Infantry Battalion Calugareni ended today, in Iraq, the first humanitarian project within the campaign Children for Children initiated by the Romanian Society of Radio broadcast and performed with the support of the Ministry of National Defence.

Within the CIMIC (civil-military) cooperation, the Romanians distributed to the children of a kindergarten in Al Fudliyah, ten boxes with toys gathered from a few Romanian cities.

Hayder Faissal, chief of Al Fudliyah local council stated: We thank the Romanian troops and the children from Romania for these toys. We will remember you and the Romanian people that are a peace loving and brave people, thinking about the Iraqi children. The worth of the toys is not great but the symbolic and sentimental value is special. The Iraqi children and the people appreciate the gesture of the Romanian children and the Romanian people. We are very happy to see how they enjoy them because for many of them, it is the first time they have received a toy.

According to the information transmitted by Captain Carol Florea, PR officer of the Battalion, the Romanian soldiers will have two more missions of this kind, in schools and kindergartens in their area of responsibility through the 1st of June.
