Army's Day

April 23 represents the Day of the Army, the most comprising service, having now almost 2,000 soldiers in military operations abroad and having Saint George as spiritual patron. The end of this week will be marked in all the garrisons and military units by commemorative events.

The activities consist of paying homage to the ancestors sacrifice and the evocations of the units fighting traditions, presentation of the process of transformation and modernization of the Romanian Army. Political and military personalities, soldiers in reserve and retreat and veterans are invited to participate in these activities.

Army Staff organizes Friday April 22 in Bucharest the following events:
-10.00-10.30: military ceremony of laying wreaths at the Monument of the Unknown Soldier;
-11.00-12.30: Army in the present circumstances of security symposium, Sala Polivalenta at Haiducului Military Complex;
-reading of the Order of the Minister of National Defence;
-presentations of reports: Geopolitics and Geostrategic Environment framework of manifestation of the Army; Doctrine of operations of the Army support of correlation between national defence and collective defence; Transformation of the Army in the perspective of 2007-12; Missions fulfilled by the Army outside the national territory.
-19.30-21.30 Solemn Call in Piata Eroilor and retreat with torches on Piata Eroilor, Bulevardul Prof. Dr. Gheorghe Marinescu, Sos. Cotroceni, Bulevardul Iuliu Maniu, Bulevardul General Vasile Milea, Bulevardul Timisoara, 30th Guard and Protocol Regiment barracks.
