Condolences for the British General who died in Romania

Minister of National Defence Teodor Atanasiu transmitted to the State Secretary of Defence of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Geoffrey Hoon, a letter of condolence expressing the regret for the death of Major General reverend Ian Durie, who died in an accident last week in Romania.

In these moments of deep grief we lower our heads with respect for the memory of the deceased and we present our sincere condolences to you and the Ministry of Defence of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. We also ask you to send our feelings of deep compassion and solidarity to the mourning family wrote Minister Atanasiu in the letter.

Thursday, April 21, at about 15.00 hours, Major General reverend Ian Durie, Major General Dr. Nicolae Uscoi, commander of the Army Academy Nicolae Balcescu from Sibiu and Captain Radu Marian died in a car accident in Brateiu, Sibiu County.

Major General Durie was participating in Romania in the International Conference of Christians Young Officers and Cadets developed between April 17 and 23, 05 at the Army Academy Nicolae Balcescu.
