On the occasion of the Day of the Heroes, military and religious ceremonies in the memory of the known and unknown soldiers fallen in the wars, international missions and the 1989 Revolution will be organized in all the locations where military units are dislocated in.

The Ministry of National Defence organizes Thursday, June 9,05 the religious ceremonies and the lay of wreaths at the graves and monuments of the heroes in cooperation with the local public authorities, the National Association of War Veterans and the representatives of religious cults.

The ceremonies in Bucharest will be held at the Monument of the Heroes in front of the National University of Defence (at 10.30 hours), the Grave of the Unknown Soldier in Parcul Carol (at 12.00 hours), the Graveyard of the Heroes of Revolution (Calea Serban Voda), the Graveyard of the Second World War Heroes (Ghencea Military Graveyard) and Filantropia Israeli Graveyard.

The Day of the Heroes was proclaimed a national holiday in 2003 by the Law no.379.
The Day of the Heroes according to the Christian tradition is celebrated in the day of Ascension.
