Black Wolfs again in Afghanistan

The departure ceremony of the 151st Infantry Battalion participating in Enduring Freedom VII operation in Afghanistan will occur Friday, June 10, at the 15th Mechanized Brigade in Iasi, in the presence of the Minister of National Defence, Teodor Atanasiu and the Chief of the General Staff, General Eugen Badalan.

The activity will start at 10.15 hours and will consist in a solemn call, reading the Decision of the Parliament and the Order of Minister of National Defence for deploying the Battalion into the theater of operations, handing over the fighting flag and a military and religious ceremony.

The 151st Infantry Battalion commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Vasile Roman is replacing the 300th Infantry Battalion Sfantul Andrei from Galati which has been on this mission since January 2005.

Also known as the Black Wolfs, the soldiers from Iasi gained great experience in multinational missions in Angola, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Albania, this being their second participation in Enduring Freedom operation in Afghanistan.
