The 300th Infantry Battalion Sfantul Andrei soldiers deployed in Kandahar air base, Afghanistan celebrated today, June 9, the Day of the Romanian Heroes.
On this occasion, they uncovered a monument dedicated to the three heroes who paid the most precious price for peace and freedom: Second Lieutenant (post mortem) Iosif Silviu Fogarasi, Second Lieutenant (post mortem) Mihai Anton Samuila and Second Lieutenant (post mortem) Narcis Saonei.
I use this occasion, now the Day of the Heroes, to express the feeling of gratitude and I bend my head in the memory of those that because of their sacrifice wrote a page of heroism in our national history and the history of the Afghani people said Lieutenant Colonel Adrian Soci.

The soldiers of the 2nd Infantry Battalion Calugareni inaugurated, today, a water filtration station in Ukaykah for the needs of the 10,000 inhabitants. This station represents the first project made by the Romanian soldiers in this Iraqi place, with a value of $112,000 from the Multinational Force funds.
Mayor Haitham Aziz Aadan thanked the Multinational Force and the Romanian troops and stated: We waited long for this first project which was complted today in our city with the help of the Romanian soldiers. I said to the people that the Romanian soldiers are to be trusted and they will help us to have a better life. Also, we very much want to obtain the support for the re-habilitation of roads, construction of other purification stations and for schools for our children.
