Romanian Air Force in NATO AIR MEET 2005 Exercise

A Romanian Air Force Detachment consisting of 43 soldiers and three MiG 21 LanceR airplanes from the 71st Air Base will participate between September 3 and 15 to NATO AIR MEET 2005 exercise occurred on Oerland Airport, Norway. The three airplanes took off Campia Turzii, Sunday, August 28 and left Romania today, August 29 after a stop in Timisoara.

The Romanian Detachment will participate for the first time together with the 17 NATO members to this important activity annually organized by NATO.

Missions of gaining and maintaining the air superiority in conditions closed to the real ones will be performed during this exercise. The participants will also perform: defense and air interdiction missions, attack to the ground and air support missions and electronic warfare actions.

The displace of the personnel and their equipment for this exercise will be made by a C 130 Hercules from the 90th Air Transport base.
