Romanian-German Camp for War Graves Care

The official open of the Romania-German war graves care camp in the Heroes Graveyard will occur Friday, September 9, at Buzau.

The activity is organized by the German Association for war graves care and the 2nd Joint Operational Command Maresal Averescu from Buzau and is coordinated by the Military Tradition and Civic Education Section from the Ministry of National Defence.

The activity will end September 22. Participants are 12 German soldiers from the 1st Guard Battalion, Jever, led by Lieutenant Colonel Hans Jurgen Bindernagel. The Romanian part consists in 12 soldiers from the 47th Transmission Regiment, Buzau, led by Captain Luigi Campeanu.

The war graves care already became a tradition and the German soldiers are participating for the fifth time.

An Agreement on Caring the War Romanian Graves in Germany and the War German Graves in Romania ratified by the Law no. 170/1997 was signed between the Government of Romania and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany.
