Minister Teodor Atanasiu will lead the delegation of the Ministry of National Defence that will participate in the Informal Defence Ministerial taking place during September 13 to 14 in Berlin.

The Alliance's Transformation with the view to improving its response capability to the new risks and threats to Euro-Atlantic security, articulating a common vision for the future of NATO's political and military profile are the main topics the 26 defence ministers will approach. An analysis will be made of NATO's participation in the military operations in the Balkans, Iraq and Afghanistan, of how the Alliance's role could be consolidated in these areas as well as NATO's contribution to the fight against terrorism.

Another topic on the Informal Defence Ministerial agenda will be the NATO-Russia Council, at defence ministers' level, when an assesment will be made on the progress in the field of the defence and fight against terrorism.

NATO Defence Ministerials are biannual.
