State Secretary and chief of Department of Armaments Dr. Eng. Gheorghe Matache during his official visit in Belgium, met Major General Guido Andries, National Director for Armaments, Lieutenant General Jean Marie Jokin deputy chief of Defense (General Staff) and Raymond Lefavre, president of Belgian Industrial Group for Defense.

The discussions were focused on mutual information on reform within the military system, integrated management of military acquisitions and logistical support of weapons during their lifetime.

There were also discussed the issues on the tendencies at the European level on reorganization and regrouping of the defense industries within organisms and organizations acting within NATO and EU.

State Secretary Gheorghe Matache invited the representatives of the Belgian defense industry to visit EXPOMIL 2003, the international military show, organized in November in Bucharest and encouraged the industrial cooperation.

Wednesday, June 4, 03 the State Secretary and chief of Department of Armaments will visit the Center of Competence for Armaments, the Royal Military Academy and the Scientific Research Department.

This occasion there will be made an evaluation of the bilateral relations for identifying the new possibilities to increase the military and technical cooperation.
