FRENCH-ROMANIAN TRAINING FLIGHT EXERCISE

During September 12 to 24 Romanian Air Forces and the French Combat Air Force participate in a common training flight exercise CHASSEUR ACCOMPLI, at the Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base.

The goal of the exercise is to develop interoperability between the air forces of the two countries by training personnel to use NATO procedures. The exercise consists of air combat missions with mixed crews and using French and Romanian aircraft, day and night live firings at the Babadag and Smardan firing ranges.

Romania participates in the exercise with 130 troops, eight MiG-21 LanceRs, one helicopter IAR-330 MEDEVAC and one IAR-330 PUMA, and France with 150 troops, five Mirage 2000D and three Mirage F1CT.

Romanian Air Forces conduct common training exercises with the French partner since 1997. In 2004, the exercise was conducted in France in Colmar, while the one in Romania in 2003, in Timisoara.
