From September 27 to 29, Francisco Torrente Sanchez, Admiral and Secretary General for Defence Policy in the Ministry of Defence of the Kingdom of Spain, visited Romania.

The visit took place following the invitation of Ion-Mircea Plangu, State Secretary and Chief of the Department for Euro Atlantic Integration and Defence Policy. For the two officials the visit represented a good opportunity to talk issues such as future developments at the level of the European Security and Defence Policy, the NATO-EU relation, the Mediterranean Dialogue and Cooperation Initiative of Isanbul, the situation in Afghanistan and military bilateral cooperation.

The program of the visit included meetings with State Councellor Constantin Degeratu at the National Security Department of the Presidential Administration, and with Marius Balu, State Secretary and Chief of the Department for Parliamentary Relations, Legal Correlation and Public Relations at the Ministry of National Defence.
