Romanian-French Experience Exchange in the Field of Higher Military Education

From September 29 to October 2 octombrie, 2005, a delegation from the Military School Saint-Cyr, France, headed by Major General Jean CoulloummeLabarthe, visited Romania following the invitation of the Commander of the National Defence University Carol I, General, Professor Dr. Mircea Muresan.

The two commanders will make an exchange of experience on the curricula, on the criteria for the selection of officers, the goal of the studies and the cooperation with other education institutions.

On October 1, Generalul CoulloummeLabarthe will participate in the opening ceremony of the 2005-2006 school year and the unveiling of the effigy of HM Carol I, events that will be attended by high Romanian political officials and foreign military attaches accredited to Bucharest.

After the opening ceremony, General Muresan will depart for France, as head of a Romanian delegation. Their visit will last until October 5 and will include the Defence Joint College, the Military School in Saint-Cyr, the EU Institute for Security Studies and the Institute for Advanced Military Studies.

Delegates and hosts will talk about the organization of the leading structures in the education institutions and their cooperation with equivalent civilian institutions. The Romanian delegation will talk about the National Defence University, the cooperation perspectives concerning the exchange of professors and students and their participation in common military exercises.

These activities are part of the development process of the bilateral relations in the field of higher education and in the spirit of the traditional relations between the armed forces of the two countries.
