On Wednesday, October 5, 2005, a ceremony will take place at 11.00 hrs in the Port of Constanta for the departure of Frigate Regele Ferdinand (King Ferdinand) for the first NATO mission of the Navy.

The participation in Operation Active Endeavour, taking place in the Mediterranean Sea represents the first mission of the frigate and its 203 Navy troops onboard under the command of Commander Sorin LEARSCHI.

The frigate will first conduct a common training session with the Turkish Navy, in preparation of the mission. As of October 15, they will work together for two months in operation Active Endeavour.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of the MoD leadership, of the central and local authorities, of the Romanian Orthodox Church, of different NGOs and the families of the soldiers involved in the exercise.
