Defence Minister Teodor Atanasiu will participate in the Informal Meeting of the Defence Ministers from the EU member and acceding countries, to be held at the Lyneham Air Base, in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, on October 13.

European Security and Defence Policy, crises management operations, EU presence in Bosnia and Herzegovina are the main issued to be dealt with at the meeting. The European Defence Agency's activity and perspectives of development is another issue of the agenda.

Minister Atanasiu will point out Romania's role as a future EU member situated at the Eastern border of the organisation. He will also refer to our country's willingness to continue its contribution to the increased role of EU in South Eastern Europe.

Currently, the Romanian Armed Forces participates in the EU operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina with 124 troops and four support helicopters.
