Romania received the CENCOOP Director Committee Presidency

A delegation headed by Ion Mircea Plangu, State Secretary and chief of Department for Euro-Atlantic Integration and Defence Policy participated between October 20 and 21 in Defence Ministers Reunion of CENCOOP members developed in Zagreb, Croatia. This occasion, Romania received for a year the Presidency of the Director Committee of CENCOOP regional initiative.

The initiative was launched in 1998 according to the UN forces arrangement in wait. The founder states are: Austria, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Hungary. In 1999 the initiative enlarged and included Swiss and in 2002, Croatia . The Czech Republic and Ukraine have the status of partner of information.

Activities such as the annual reunions of Defence Ministers and Chiefs of General Staffs, reunion of Director Committee, reunions of Planning and Coordination Group and reunions of political-military and legal experts are organized under the CENCOOP aegis.
