Romanian heroes commemorated in Kandahar

The three heroes who died on duty in Afghanistan, post mortem Second Lieutenant Iosif Silviu Fogorasi, Mihail Anton Samoila and Narcis Sonei were this morning commemorated in front of the monument built in their memory in the Romanian camp in Kandahar. All the soldiers of the 151st Black Wolfs Infantry Battalion and their guests from the other units of the coalition participated in the religious service celebrated by the priest of the Battalion.

November 11, 2003 a column of Romanian armored vehicles was fire attacked while returning to the camp at the end of the mission. In this incident, Senior Sergeant Iosif Silviu Fogorasi was deadly shot, Senior Sergeant Mihail Anton Samoila was wounded and after three days died in a military hospital in Bagram, Afghanistan,

April 24, 2005 in the afternoon, Sergeant Narcis Sonei died the moment his armored vehicle passed over an explosive device.

The three soldiers were post mortem ranked as Second Lieutenant by order of the Minister of National Defence and buried home with military honors.
