Ioan Mircea Pascu, minister of National Defense participated Thursday June 12, 03 to the reunion of the North Atlantic Council and Planning Committee in format 19+7. He had interventions on Romania's preparation for joining NATO and the Alliance's transformation.

The main elements for increasing NATO Response Force, the Alliance's new structures of command, stage of engagement from Prague on capabilities and the running of operations in the Balkans, Afghanistan and Iraq. The North Atlantic Council analyzed and approved certain documents among them NATO Ministerial Directive representing the Alliance's new approach on effective military capabilities set at disposal in a very short time and dislocated where it is necessary.

This occasion, the minister of National Defense presented Romania's engagement in acceleration of reform of the Armed Forces in concordance with the Alliance's transformation and future participation in the engagement from Prague. Also, Ioan Mircea Pascu expressed the support Romania grants for NATO decisions for engagement in the International Force for Security Assistance in Afghanistan and support for Poland in the Force of Stabilization in Iraq.
