The Red Scorpions return ceremony will occur Friday, November 25 starting 11.00 hours in Craiova. They were in missions in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The 26th Infantry Battalion Neagoe Basarab acted between August and November 2005 with a 400 soldiers Detachment as the Force of Electoral Support in Afghanistan and between March and October 2005 with a 100 soldiers Company within the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq.



The 26th Infantry Battalion Neagoe Basarab is the first Battalion simultaneously deployed in two theaters of operations. In Afghanistan, the Red Scorpions fulfilled missions under NATO command in Kabul region within ISAF. The Battalion mission having in subordination an US company was the secure of security climate for the Parliamentarian elections.
In Iraq, the Red Scorpions acted in Basra region within the UNAMI subordinated to the Multinational Force Command ensuring the UN dignitaries protection.
The 26th Infantry Battalion Neagoe Basarab participated in eight international missions, thus: Angola (1996), Albania (1997), Kosovo ( 2002 with two successive detachments), Afghanistan ( 2002 and 2005) and Iraq ( 2004 and 2005).
