BLUE LINX PEACE KEEPING EXERCISE

BLUE LINX Peacekeeping Exercise is organized these days by the Embassy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Ministry of National Defence and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at Sofitel Hotel, Bucharest.

The participants are about 50 military personnel, diplomats, representatives of different NGOs and police from Albania, Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Croatia, FYROM, Moldavia, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia and Montenegro, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine and Hungary as well as British speakers and moderators.

The aim of this exercise is the increase of understanding the complexity of the modern peacekeeping operations. The participants will have to find solutions to different situations within a fictive scenario in order to respond to the challenges appearing after an armed conflict. These challenges are mainly on managing the refugees and coordination of military and civilian structures involved in demobilization and disarmament.

BLUE LINX is the fifth exercise of the series organized and financed by the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland as part of the engagement in strengthening the efficient execution of such king of peacekeeping operations. Similar exercises were in Thailand, Argentina, Senegal and Bangladesh.

The Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland thanks to the Government of Romania for accepting to be the host country and for the precious support granted through the Ministry of National Defence and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
