Military Policemen from the Irak VI Company officially in mission in Iraq

The Irak VI MP Company led by Captain Antonel Tugui are officially in mission in An Nassiryah, Dhi Qar region, South of Iraq. The sub-unit with 100 soldiers from the 265th MP Battalion will act during their six months mission under the Italian command of the Multinational Specialized Unit.

Colonel Paulo Ortolani, MSU commander and the representative of the 2nd Joint Operational Corps Maresal Averescu Colonel Costel Olteanu signed Sunday, January 22, the transfer of responsibility to the new Romanian contingent.

They transmitted to the MP personnel of the Irak V Company led by Captain Constantin Brosteanu thanks for the way they developed their mission. This occasion, they offered diploma and badges remembering their participation in Antica Babilonia mission. When I was appointed the MSU commander I was very proud having in my subordination a Romanian MP Company. This, because the Romanian soldiers are real pro and brought honor to their country. The Company in my subordination became a symbol of the Romanian-Italian friendship Colonel Ortolani stated at the end of ceremony.
July 2005-January 2006 the Irak V Company fulfilled about 400 missions. There were missions of escort of convoys, guard of Mittica Camp, patrol on positions where the insurgents could launch attacks and monitorization of police activity in An Nassiryah and the training of the Iraqi security forces.

The 265th MP Battalion participated in missions in Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq.
