General David McKiernan, commander of US Army Europe and the 7th Army paid a visit in Romania invited by Lieutenant General Dr. Sorin Ioan, chief of Romanian Army Staff.

The two officials discussed about the cooperation in the theaters of operations and the aims of the process of transformation of the Army in operationalization, training of troops and modernization of equipment.

The US General was received by chief of General Staff, General Dr. Eugen Badalan and the State Secretary and chief of Department for Parliament Liaison, Legislative Harmonization and Public Relations, Marius Balu.

General McKiernan stressed on the importance of the bilateral relations of cooperation, Romania being the first country he visited since his appointment in the present position, in December 2005 and expressed the disposal in continuing and increasing the common activities
