Minister of National Defense, Teodor Atanasiu in official visit in the Czech Republic handled, today, in Brno, in the name of the President of Romania, Traian Basescu, the National Order for Merit in rank of Commander to officials from this country.

The high rank distinctions were offered to the Governor of Moravia South, Stanslav Juranek and to the Major of Brno, Richard Svoboda for their support in the establishment of the Memorial dedicated to the 3000 of Romanian soldiers that sacrificed for the freedom of tens of places in the former Czechoslovakia in the World War II.

The delegation headed by minister Atanasiu laid a wreath at the Monument of the Romanian Soldiers in the Central Graveyard in Brno.

The Romanian minister of National Defense returned in Prague for meeting in the evening his Czech counterpart, Karel Kuhnl.
