Sergeant-Major Valerica Leu, of the 33rd Maneuver Battalion deployed to Afghanistan, was killed in action today, May 12, at 08.30 hrs. Romanian time.
The Minister of National Defence Gabriel Oprea signed an order that awards Sergeant Major Valerica Leu the rank of 2nd Lieutenant, for the supreme sacrifice he made while fulfilling his task in Afghanistan.
Valerica Leu, promoted post-mortem in rank to 2nd Lieutenant, killed in action in Afghanistan will be brought back home with a Romanian military aircraft on May 14, 16.00 hrs, at the military airport of the 90th Air Base of Otopeni.
