In the last 24 hours, military detachments of the defence ministry intervened with 1580 troops and 88 vehicles and equipment of the Land, Air and Navy Forces in 22 cases, in support of the population affected by snowfalls and snow storms in counties in the sounth of Moldova, Muntenia and Dobrogea were involved.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, over 500 troops and 40 vehicles of the Ministry of National Defence made over 20 interventions in support of the population affected by the snowfalls and snow storms. The troops evacuated and saved the people for whom assistance was requested by local authorities and cleared from snow roads in Arad, Botosani, Vaslui, Brasov, Prahova, Ilfov and Vrancea counties.

Romanian Armed Forces continue to intervene in support of the population affected by snow and snow storms. A detachment of the 528th Recce Battalion operating an armored personnel carrier and a DAC 665T truck works for the evacuation of an ill person from an ambulance stuck in snow in Tarlele Filiu, Braila County and his transportation to the nearest hospital.

On Monday morning, February 6, at 7 a.m the sea rescue tug "Grozavul" started to operate at clearing the navigable channel Sulina. The ship, that has a crew of 40 sailors and a 2,7 ton displacement, works at breaking ice on the Danube between Sulina and Tulcea harbors.

On Wednesday, February 5, the Minister of National Defence Gabriel Oprea ordered that sea rescue tug 'Grozavul', be prepared to break ice on Danube channel Sulina. The military ship will leave Constanta harbor today and will begin its work on Monday morning. The ship has a crew of 40 sailors, a 2,7 ton displacement and can break ice of up to 15 cm thick in harbors and on the Danube.

The Minister of National Defence Gabriel Oprea approved that a military tugboat of the Romanian Navy ensure, starting Tuesday, January 31, the daily transportation of people along the Danube River, between Tulcea and Tudor Vladimirescu. The County Committee for Emergency Situation requested Tuesday the assistance of the Ministry of National Defence, as circulation of commercial boats on the Danube is restricted. The interdiction was issued by the Tulcea Harbor Master`s Office due to ice blocks floating on the river.
