Major (posthumous) Iuliu-Vasile Unguras was killed in Afghanistan during a patrol mission on Kandahar-Kabul route. The vehicle he was in drove over an improvised explosive device. He was awarded the National Order "Steaua României" in rank of Knight, for military men, with war insignia.
