Second Lieutenant (posthumous) Dragos Traian Alexandrescu was killed in Afghanistan, during a patrol mission on A1 (Qalat-Kabul) route, when the vehicle he was in, drove over an improvised explosive device. He was awarded the National Order "Steaua României" in rank of Knight, for military men, with war insignia.
