Between July 30 and August 10, 03 the school ship "Mircea" having on board the crew plus 70 students from the Naval Academy "Mircea cel Batran" from Constanta and 58 students from Military Foremen School "Amiral Ion Murgescu" of the Navy and cadets from the Navy Academies from Bulgaria and Turkey will be on a training march on the Black Sea. The ship's start is planned for July 30, 03 at 10.00 hours from the military berth of the Constanta Harbor.
The ship will be in Istanbul harbor between August 1 and 16, 2003. The crew, teachers and students will meet the military and civilian officials and will visit different historical and tourist sites.
The school ship "Mircea" was build between 1938-39 in ''Blohm und Voss" shipyards in Hamburg, Germany and is in service in the Romanian Navy since May 17, 1939.
Tens of generations of sailors were trained during the 64 years of service on the board of this ship. The longest voyage on "Mircea" was between March 4 and September 30, 1976 occasioned by the participation to the festivities dedicated to the bicentenary of the United States of America. When the marched for almost 20, 000 maritime miles crossing the Atlantic Ocean.
