Minister of National Defence, Ioan Mircea Pascu delivered a speech today, Wednesday, June 7, 04 at the third High Level NATO-Ukraine Conference developed in Warsaw chaired by NATO General Secretary Jaap de Hoop Scheffer.

Minister Pascu showed that the main directions for increasing the cooperation between NATO and Ukraine are the increase of the dialogue between the two parts, the assistance granted for the reform of the Ukrainian defence and security, the cooperation during the participation to the international operations and the increase of the common efforts for establishing an environment of security based on cooperation. The future Istanbul Summit will represent the opportunity for a deep dialogue between NATO and Ukraine. Romania do hope the Alliance will continue to support the Ukrainian efforts of integration within the Euro-Atlantic community.

The Romanian minister of National Defenece stressed, having in view the regional cooperation on defining the new areas of interest within the relations between NATO and Ukraine in defence of borders and increase of the maritime security.
