The NATO Battle Group from Romania was established in May by transforming the allied multinational elements of the NATO Response Force deployed to our country.
The establishment of the battle groups (Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary) is part of the larger set of measures taken by NATO in order to consolidate its long and medium-term deterrence and defence posture following the military conflict initiated by the Russian Federation in Ukraine.
Following France’s proposal of taking over the framework nation role, the French battalion considered NATO VJTF “Spearhead” is currently making up the CDBG on our national territory by integrating, on rotational basis, Belgium’s and Netherlands’ troops. The main CDBG troops are deployed at the Joint National Training Center from Cincu where they will conduct missions and training activities jointly with the Romanian Armed Force’s structures.
