Battle Group Forward Presence – BGFP in Romania was established in May, by transforming the allied multinational elements within the NATO Response Force deployed in our country.
The establishment of the Battle Groups (Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary) is part of the larger set of measures adopted by NATO in order to consolidate its medium and long-time deterrence and defence posture, as a consequence of the war led by the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
Upon France’s proposal of taking over the framework nation role, the French battalion deployed to Romania - considered the spearhead of NATO’s Very High Reaction Force (VJTF) -forms the Collective Defence Battle Group (CDBG) on the national territory, by integrating, on rotational basis, the Belgian and Dutch troops. The main CDBG troops are deployed to the Joint National Training from Cincu, where they perform training missions and activities alongside the other Romanian Armed Forces structures.
