Press Release
The Russian forces resumed the series of drone attacks against the civilian targets and port infrastructure in Ukraine, on the night of July 24th to 25th, near the border with Romania.
As a result of this situation, the Ministry of National Defence has intensified the monitoring and surveillance measures of the national airspace by engaging the Air Police Combat Service forces and means. Starting 1:32 a.m., two Finnish Air Force F-18 aircraft took off from the 57th Mihail Kogălniceanu Air Base to monitor the aerial situation. The aircraft returned to base at around 3.25am.
Also, the National Military Command Center notified the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations with regard to the establishment of measures to alert the population of Tulcea County. As a result, a RO-Alert message was sent at around 1:20 a.m., and at 2:13 a.m. the cessation of the alert measures was declared in all affected areas.
Teams of the Ministry of National Defence are currently conducting investigations in the field, in order to search for possible objects that fell on the national territory, as a result of the attacks conducted on the Ukrainian port infrastructure over the last two nights.
With reference to the investigations initiated yesterday, on July 24th, by specialists of MoND, Romanian Intelligence Service and Ministry of Internal Affairs, we mention that, up to this moment, the remains of a Geran1/2 type-drone of Russian origin were identified at the first of the three locations identified as possible areas of incidence, in the vicinity of Plauru, Tulcea County. Search will continue today to cover the entire area. We make it clear that all the locations identified as possible areas of incidence are outside the inhabited areas, not affecting the infrastructure elements.
MoND informed and keeps informing the allied structures in real time about the situations generated by the attacks, remaining in permanent contact with them.
The Ministry of National Defence sends a firmly condemns these attacks conducted by the Russian Federation against certain objectives and infrastructure elements.
