Press Release
On Sunday, November 3rd, the Russian Federation’s armed forces conducted a new series of drone attacks on Ukrainian civilian facilities and infrastructure targets, near the river border with Romania.
As a result of the detection over the Black Sea of certain groups of drones heading towards the Ukrainian airspace, nearby the airspace of Romania, the National Military Command Center (core) notified the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, at 23.34, with regard to the establishment of the air alert in the northern part of Tulcea County.
Two Romanian Air Force F-16 aircraft, which were part of the Air Policing Combat Service, took off from the 86th Borcea Air Base to monitor the aerial situation.
The air alert ended around 00:45 and the F-16s returned to their base airfield. Romania's radar surveillance system, which permanently monitored the situation generated by these attacks, did not detect the penetration of any air vehicles involved in the attack on Ukrainian targets into the national airspace.
According to the procedures in force for these situations, starting from Monday morning, November 4th, the MoND forces will conduct investigations in the national territory’s areas located near the facilities illegally attacked by the Russian forces, in order to detect potential impact situations of some aerial vehicles or their debris.
MoND informed and keeps informing the allied structures in real time about the situations generated by the attacks, maintaining permanent contact with them.
The Ministry of National Defence reiterates the strong message of condemnation of these attacks conducted by the Russian Federation against certain facilities and elements of Ukrainian civil infrastructure, which are unjustified and in serious contradiction with the international law norms.
