Angel Tîlvăr: “SEDM holds an important role in increasing stability in South-Eastern Europe."
Regional unity and cooperation, important topics listed on the SEDM Ministerial Meeting agenda
As SEDM Chairman, Minister of National Defence, Angel Tîlvăr, emphasized during the first session of the South-Eastern Europe Defence Ministerial Meeting, held on Wednesday, November 6th, in Tirana, in the Republic of Albania, the importance of unity and regional cooperation in an increasingly complex security context.
At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Tîlvăr presented the goals achieved during the Romanian Chairmanship mandate so far, such as the integration of the Republic of Moldova as a full member in SEDM and the completion of negotiations for two new important projects - one dedicated to strengthening regional resilience and the other to increasing relevance of the South Eastern Europe Brigade (SEEBRIG).
"For Romania, as the nation that holds the SEDM Chairmanship, it is very important to move these projects forward. We strongly believe in the relevance of regional cooperation and the SEDM’s role in strengthening stability in South-Eastern Europe. It is essential that we remain united and promote a robust political-military dialogue in the face of global security challenges," Minister Angel Tîlvăr stated.
The agenda of the working session also included talks on the importance of the rapid implementation of the new project submitted by Romania in the field of resilience, considering the volatile threats in the current security context.
The support for SEDM's "open door policy" was also reiterated.
