Defence Minister’s meeting with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden
On Tuesday, February 4th, Minister of National Defence, Angel Tîlvăr, had a meeting, at the MoND headquarters, with Her Excellency Anna Hällerman, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to Bucharest.
The meeting agenda focused on the security situation and the strengthening of the Allied deterrence and defence posture, given the increase in Russian Federation’s hybrid actions in both the Black Sea and Baltic Sea regions.
"Strengthening the deterrence and defence posture of the eastern flank, in a robust and coherent manner, will remain the main topic on the allied agenda, including at the upcoming NATO Summit in The Hague. We appreciate the joint efforts of the allies in the Baltic Sea and the launch of the Baltic Sentry Mission, essential for protecting the critical submarine infrastructure," Minister Angel Tîlvăr stated.
The two officials mentioned the importance of continuing the dialogue regarding the renewal of the bilateral legal framework - an essential pillar in strengthening the joint efforts to implement projects of mutual interest.
During the meeting, the officials appreciated the very good level of collaborative relations between the two states, with major progress being made in the field, given the common interests and activities conducted over the recent years, including in terms of the constant support offered to Ukraine by the two states, both bilaterally and within NATO and EU.
Also, during the meeting, the Minister of National Defence recalled the main activities undertaken by Romania in order to strengthen the allied deterrence and defence posture in the Black Sea Region.
