Exercises planned by the Romanian Armed Forces in 2026
The Romanian Armed Force continues, in 2026, its collective training process by conducting exercises at strategic, operational and tactical levels, both in a national and allied context.
Thus, over 100 exercises are estimated to take place, this year, of which the most important are HISTRIA 26 - an inter-agency strategic-level exercise, intended to train the Romanian Military force structure in a national and allied context, DACIA 26 - a tactical-level exercise, planned by the Joint Forces Command and led by the Services and commands, interconnected with the allied exercise STEADFAST DEFENDER 27, as well as LAND SHIELD 26 - an exercise intended to train subordinate structures in the planning and conduct of military operations in pre-contingency and contingency situations.
At the same time, the following exercises will be conducted in 2026: SEA SHIELD 26 - a multinational exercise aimed at training the Naval Component Command and tactical battle groups in scenarios generated by crisis situations on NATO's southeastern flank, as well as STEADFAST DETERRENCE 26 and STEADFAST DUEL 26 - NATO exercises at the strategic and operational levels, designed to practice the activation of allied plans and multi-domain operations. Exercise BUREBISTA 26 will also take place - an exercise dedicated to the Air Force training, focused on developing the capacity to conduct air operations in a combined framework, as well as Exercise CARPATHIAN ARC 26 - an exercise planned and led by the Multinational Corps South-East Headquarters to train its subordinate structures. In parallel, the mobilization exercises, such as MOBEX, will continue with the aim of training and validating specific plans and procedures.
The exercises planned for 2026 aim to maintain and enhance the readiness level, create the necessary conditions for the conduct of major training events planned for 2027, increase interoperability with allied forces and the response capacity and support the deterrence and defence posture on NATO's Eastern Flank. These activities demonstrate the Romanian Armed Forces' commitment to actively contributing to collective security and regional stability.

Also, SABER GUARDIAN 25 Exercise, planned in cooperation with the American strategic partner, involved the deployment of a significant package of forces on Romanian territory, and DACIAN FALL 25 Exercise, planned and led by the Multinational Division Southeast Headquarters, marked the deployment of a brigade-level multinational structure, consolidating Romania's role as a credible ally and pillar of regional security.
