Defence Minister’s meeting with the Ambassador of Germany to Bucharest

On Tuesday, January 20th, Minister of National Defence, Radu Miruță, had a meeting with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Romania, H.E. Angela Ganninger, at the Ministry of National Defence headquarters. 

The talks focused on bilateral defence cooperation, both in the context of security challenges in the region, as well as at European and global levels, including from the perspective of ensuring strategic stability in the Black Sea area. At the same time, collaboration within NATO and the European Union was addressed, with emphasis on preparations for the high-level meetings that will take place in the coming period.

The main aspects of technical-military and industrial cooperation were also reviewed, in the context of the implementation of the SAFE financial instrument, dedicated to strengthening the European Union's defence capacity and its strategic profile until 2030.

Minister of National Defence expressed his gratitude for Germany's significant contribution to strengthening the deterrence and defence posture on the eastern flank, especially through its active involvement in the enhanced Air Policing Mission conducted in Romania.

Last but not least, both parties’ availability to enhance bilateral relations and cooperation in support of regional and Euro-Atlantic security was reconfirmed.
