Following the incident recorded on 29 May 2026, at approximately 02:00, in the area of STIREX, 50 Brăilei Street, BR1B building, staircase 2, 10th floor, apartment 80, Galați municipality, Galați County, the technical investigation, which also involved a specialized team from the Ministry of National Defence, concluded the following:
* Type of suspicious object: UAS (Unmanned Aerial System);
• Model: GERAN-2, Russian-made (evidence bearing the inscription “ГЕРАНЬ 2”, partially legible as “ГЕ___Ь 2”, was identified);
• Operational purpose: single-use attack drone / one-way attack UAV (kamikaze);
• Fuselage: debris containing a carbon fiber structural frame and Cyrillic inscriptions;
• Wings: fragments with a carbon fiber structural frame;
• Propulsion system: air-cooled, two-stroke boxer-type internal combustion engine with four pistons and propeller;
• Electronic components: indicate the use of a KOMETA-type GNSS system, enabling simultaneous positioning through multiple satellite navigation systems;
• Electronic servomotor: used for flight control and trajectory stabilization of the UAS;
• Munition: the warhead (detonated upon impact) was of the High-Explosive (HE) type, weighing approximately 30 kilograms (TNT equivalent);
* The evidence identified at the scene is structurally and functionally identical to that recovered and attributed to the Russian Federation in previous incidents involving GERAN-2 type UASs (Chilia Veche/Tulcea – 17.01.2025; Ceatalchioi/Tulcea – 17.01.2025; Galați/Galați – 28.02.2025; Grindu/Tulcea – 13.02.2025; Galați/Galați – 25.04.2026; Luncavița/Tulcea – 26.04.2026).
The target was initially identified at 01:46 while in Ukrainian airspace, approximately 19 kilometers from the national border (10 kilometers east of the locality of Reni).
