Following the attacks conducted on Sunday, July 26th, by the Russian Federation against the civilian and infrastructure targets in Ukraine, near the river border with Romania, the radar surveillance system of the Ministry of National Defence detected an aerial target at 09:29, approximately 25 km southeast of Sulina. 

Two Romanian Air Force F-16 fighter jets from the Borcea 86th Air Base, conducting Air Policing Service, scrambled at 09:32 to monitor the situation. 

The National Military Command Center notified the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations regarding the implementation of public alert measures in Tulcea County, and a RO-Alert message was issued. 

The drone entered the national airspace at 10:08, and five minutes later, at 10:13, one of the two overflying F-16 aircraft engaged the aerial target with a missile and shot it down over the Black Sea - within the Romanian territorial waters - at 12 km northeast of Sulina.

 Coast Guard teams, operating two vessels, are searching for drone and interceptor missile fragments in the area where they fell.

 This was the third drone shot down by a Romanian Air Force F-16 aircraft in three consecutive days. 

The search for drone and interceptor missile debris resulted from the mission on Saturday, July 25^th - during which a drone was shot down by a Romanian Air Force F-16 aircraft approximately 10 kilometers west-northwest of Sfântu Gheorghe, Tulcea County, in a remote, uninhabited area - also continued today. 

So far, neither the ground teams nor the aerial reconnaissance units have located any debris, and the search will resume on Monday, July 27th. 

Regarding the unmanned aircraft vehicle shot down on Friday, July 24th, the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Ploiești Court of Appeal concluded that it was a Shahed-type drone. The other two cases involving the neutralized drones—on July 25 and July 26—are being investigated by the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Constanța Court of Appeal.
