Signing ceremony of the Letter of Intent on Cooperation between Romania and Poland under the SAFE Instrument

The signing ceremony of the Letter of Intent on cooperation between the ministries of national defence of Romania and Poland under the "Security Action For Europe" (SAFE) Financial Instrument took place on Wednesday, September 30, at the MoND headquarters.

The Letter of Intent was signed by Major General Ph. D. Eng. Ion-Cornel Pleșa, Head of the General Directorate for Armaments within the Romanian Ministry of National Defence, and Brigadier General Romuald Maksymiuk, Head of the General Directorate for Armaments within the Polish Ministry of National Defence.

The ceremony was held in the presence of State Secretary Sorin Moldovan, Head of the Department for Defence Policy, Planning, and International Relations within the Romanian MoND, and Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka, State Secretary in the Polish Ministry of National Defence, who is currently on an official visit to Bucharest.

By signing the letter of intent, the two ministries of defence agreed to enhance cooperation in support of the defence industry of both countries in a bilateral format, within NATO and the European Union, and to collaborate closely regarding the acquisition of the loitering munition strike system, one of the projects managed by the Romanian MoND that will be financed through SAFE Instrument.
