Press Release
A new aerial target operating near the border with Romania was detected on Wednesday morning, October 14, by the radar surveillance system of the Ministry of National Defence.
The National Military Command Centre notified the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations to implement alert measures for the population in the eastern and northern parts of Tulcea County, and a RO-Alert message was issued at 10:19 AM. Two Romanian Air Force F-16 aircraft were scrambled from the 86th Borcea Air Base.
The target moved briefly within the national airspace, in the east of Sulina, over the Black Sea, before entering the Ukrainian airspace, where it was shot down by Ukraine's air defence system.
The air alert ceased at 11:22 AM.
