Press release
On Wednesday, September 13, the Russian forces conducted new attacks against the Ukrainian Port infrastructure at Reni and Ismail, in the proximity of the border between Ukraine and Romania.
The Ministry of National Defence monitored, in real time, the airspace situation from its areas of responsibility. As a result of the detection of the groups of drones heading towards the Ukrainian ports, MoND notified the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (GIES), starting 00:45, with regard to the specific areas in Tulcea and Galați Counties, located in the vicinity, that can be potentially affected by the risks associated with this situation. The aerial pre-alert state in these areas ended at 05.00.
Following the development of the situation information received from the GIES, with respect to the telephone notifications made at the 112 service, about possible cases of drone impact in an area comprised between Nufãru, Malcoci and Valea Nucarilor Localities, in Tulcea County, the MoND teams, in cooperation with other forces and means of the National Defence, Public Order and National Security System investigate these situations. We will provide more details based on the data received from the field.
The teams are continuing the investigations and we will return with details, depending on the data received from the field.
The MoND forces are still on alert and will continue investigations in the areas where risks may still be manifested as a result of this situation.
The Ministry of National Defence firmly condemns the new series of attacks conducted last night by the Russian Federation against the Ukrainian sites and civilian infrastructure elements located in the Ukrainian Danube Ports. These attacks are unjustified and severely breaking international humanitarian rules.
Also, the MoND is in constant contact with the Allied structures, who are informed in real time.
