Minister of National Defence, at the eighth edition of the Black Sea and Balkans Security Forum International Conference
Minister of National Defence, Angel Tîlvãr, participated on Friday, May 24th, together with his counterpart from the Republic of Moldova, Anatolie Nosatîi, in the eighth edition of the "Black Sea and Balkans Security Forum" International Conference organized by the New Strategy Center, an event which emphasizes the strategic importance of the Black Sea and the Balkans region in the global security context.
Minister Tîlvãr particularly appreciated the organizers' efforts to bring politicians, diplomats, military and renowned international analysts to Bucharest to discuss the regional security situation.
In his speech, the Minister of National Defence emphasized the need for an objective assessment of the current situation and the identification of optimal solutions to prevent the occurrence of future threats and challenges.
"The war in Ukraine has clearly emphasized the need for a strong allied presence in the Black Sea region. We strongly support the accession of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine to the European Union, an essential process for regional stability and security", added Angel Tîlvãr.
With reference to the support provided to the Republic of Moldova, the Minister of National Defence reiterated the strategic importance of this country for Romania, emphasizing the pragmatic approach of the Chișinãu-Bucharest relationship and our country’s commitment in supporting the European path of the Republic of Moldova, through concrete actions.
"Romania provides permanent support to the authorities in Chișinãu in their efforts to strengthen the resilience and ensure the stability of the Republic of Moldova", Minister Tâlvãr concluded.
New Strategy Center organized, on May 23rd and 24th, in Bucharest, at the Athénée Palace Hilton Hotel, the eighth edition of the "Black Sea and Balkans Security Forum", an event dedicated to defence, security and international relations issues. The event was organized in partnership with the Ministry of National Defence, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine in Bucharest and benefited from the support of NATO's Committee on Public Diplomacy.
This year's edition invited world-renowned experts such as economist Nouriel Roubini, former head of the CIA, General (ret) David Petraeus and the former commander of NATO Forces in Europe, General (ret) Phillip Breedlove.
