The Chief of Defence Staff, at the anniversary of “Getica” Joint National Training Center
The Chief of the Defence Staff, General Gheorghițã Vlad, participated on Tuesday, July 2nd, in the military ceremony dedicated to the 105th anniversary of the establishment of "Getica" Joint National Training Center organized at the unit headquarters in Cincu, Brasov County.
The Chief of Defence Staff emphasized the essential role that the structure plays in the national defence architecture, particularly in the fields of military personnel training and in the host nation support. "Given the new security challenges and the unjust war waged by the Russian Federation against Ukraine, the center had to provide accommodation and training conditions for the NATO Battle Group deployed to Romania. The new situation required a multitude of novel activities and complex tasks, which were successfully accomplished by the center's staff. (...) Congratulations on all your professional achievements! Be proud of the traditions and values inherited from your forefathers and of the centenary history of the unit you serve!", General Gheorghițã Vlad stated.
On the occasion of the anniversary, the Chief of Defence Staff decorated the Battle Flag of the "Getica" Joint National Training Center with the National Order "Faithful Service" in the rank of Officer, conferred by the President of Romania, and presented awards to military and civilian personnel who have distinguished themselves by their work.
The agenda of the day also included a meeting between the Chief of the Defence Staff and the Chief of the Alabama National Guard, Brigadier General David Pritchett, who attended the anniversary event. The two officials discussed for joint training opportunities for the Romanian and American troops, as well as the projects run under the State Partnership Program in which the Romanian Armed Force cooperates with the Alabama National Guard forces.

105 years ago, by the Order of the Minister of War no. 1378 of July 2, 1919, the first Romanian training structure in Transylvania - the Regional Camp "Cincul Mare", subordinated to the 7th Army Corps - was established.
Over the years, the Cincu Training Area has been intensively used by artillery, rocket, infantry and aviation units, as well as by weaponry and ammunition manufacturing plants, where numerous exercises, live firing exercises, destruction of ammunition elements and experimental firings with different weapons and ammunition systems have been carried out.
