Defence Minister’s videoconference with the Romanian soldiers deployed to the theaters of operations
As part of the activities organized on the occasion of the Romanian Armed Forces’ Day, Minister of National Defence, Angel Tîlvăr, the Chief of the Defence Staff, General Gheorghiță Vlad, and the Commander of the Joint Forces Command, Major General Valerică Vrăjescu, discussed on Thursday, October 24th, via videoconference, with the command teams of the Romanian structures deployed to the theaters of operations.
The command teams of the detachments deployed by the Romanian Armed Forces to the EUFOR Operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the KFOR Operation in Pristina, the EUTM Mission in the Central African Republic, the Commander of the 274th "Vice Admiral Constantin Bălescu", Minesweeper, a ship placed under the command of a NATO naval group operating in the Mediterranean Sea, as well as the commanders of the Romanian military detachments deployed to Bulgaria and Poland briefed the MoND leadership during the VTC.
Minister of National Defence thanked the soldiers, both those deployed on NATO, EU and UN-led missions in the theaters of operations and those assigned on permanent positions abroad, including in individual missions, for the efforts they make daily and for the way they collaborate with allied and partner countries’ military personnel, and congratulated them on the occasion of the Romanian Armed Forces’ Day and wished them success in their missions.
"We are proud of your achievements, attained in complex situations, far from the country and families. Every working day starts here by going through the reports on the situation of the troops deployed abroad, and every report that shows that there are no problems in the places where you conduct your missions is excellent news", Angel Tîlvăr said.
The Minister of National Defence emphasized the fact that the reports issued by each command team revealed that the personnel’s morale, health and discipline were at very good levels.
"These parameters show the quality of leadership, but also the seriousness with which you have trained in the country for these missions, for which I congratulate you!", Minister Tîlvăr said.
In his turn, General Gheorghiță Vlad highlighted the good results reported by the command teams of the structures deployed to the theaters of operations and pointed out the need to maintain a high level of vigilance over the next period, when most detachments are adjusting to their new missions, after the end of the rotation period.
"You are true ambassadors of Romania in your area of operations, that's why I congratulate you for the results recorded at the beginning of your missions. I’m asking you to stay focused on accomplishing on your assigned tasks ,at the same level of performance recorded by the previous rotations, in accordance with the engagement rules and the mandate received", General Vlad stated.
Romania has deployed almost 600 soldiers in the Western Balkans and is the largest troop contributing country to EUFOR ALTHEA Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Also, our country has the most significant contribution European Union Training Mission in Central African Republic - EUTM RCA (with almost 60 soldiers), the European Union’s mission supporting the Central African security forces in the fields of strategic counseling and education.
Approximately 1,000 Romanian soldiers are currently deployed to NATO, EU or UN-led missions and operations.
