Visit paid by NATO Defence Policy and Planning Committee to Romania
Between 27-30 October 2024, Romania is hosting the visit of a NATO Defence Policy and Planning Committee (DPPC) delegation led by Angus Lapsley, the NATO Assistant Secretary General for Defence Policy and Planning. This visit offers an opportunity to enhance collaborative relations and evaluate Romania's contribution to strengthening NATO's deterrence and defence posture.
On the first day of the visit, the NATO delegation was welcomed at the Ministry of National Defence Headquarters by Simona Cojocaru, State Secretary for Defence Policy, Planning and International Relations. During the meeting the officials emphasized the importance of strengthening allied solidarity in the current security context and of the Black Sea region, as well as Romania's priorities within NATO. "Allied solidarity is practiced in the field, and unity among allies is the best strategy to respond to the current challenges posed to the Euro-Atlantic security," State Secretary Simona Cojocaru stated.
The agenda of the NATO delegation includes visits to multinational structures of strategic importance for the defence and deterrence posture of the Alliance on the eastern flank. Thus, the DPPC members and representatives of the NATO International Secretariat will visit the Headquarters Multinational Corps South-East in Sibiu, the NATO Battle Group led by France at the "Getica" Joint National Training Center in Cincu, as well as the European F-16 Training Center, at the 86th Air Base, in Fetești.
This visit highlights Romania's commitment to NATO and reflects our country’s significant contribution to strengthening common security.
